Mirror pictures with a penguin

Leila has a particular passion: selfies with her friends.

Whenever she spent time with them or simply wanted to capture a special moment, she took her smartphone. And it's a truly unique piece with a cheerful, colourful penguin design that immediately caught the eye in every shot. Because her favourite thing to do was to take photos of herself with her friends in front of mirrors, as then she was in the picture herself - additionally the playful penguin smartphone. These small, spontaneous snapshots became part of her everyday life - snapshots of her world, full of laughter, friendship and youthful lightness.

But there was one time that even Leila's cheerful selfies couldn't simply outshine. Namely when she broke her arm. When it was plastered from the wrist to the shoulder, many things were suddenly different. Many things that were previously taken for granted became difficult. And selfies? Well - she tried. She took her Penguin mobile phone in her free hand, stood in front of the mirror and took a picture or let a friend do so. On the display: a crooked smile, the cumbersome plaster cast, and of course - the penguin.

The pictures with arm cast told a different story. The colours seemed paler, the laughter softer. Her smile sometimes seemed thoughtful, sometimes almost a little forced. She seemed to have lost her lightness. The arm in plaster was not only a physical restriction, but also a mental burden. It reminded her every day of everything that was not possible. Her beloved selfies became a small outlet during this time: an attempt to maintain normality. Because she realised that this phase was also a part of her life, that these moments also deserved to be captured.

Over time, the pain faded. The plaster cast came off, her movements became freer again, her smile more genuine. And in the new photos, Leila was like before - with both functional arms, with her friends by her side and the penguin that had never left her.
