In 1999 at the U23 Athletics European Championships in Göteborg (Sweden), for the German athlete Inga Leiwesmeier were luck and bad luck close to another.

First she reached 6.64 m in the long jump competition, but in the next jump she tore her Achilles tendon. With the reached distance she became European vice-champion, her greatest success up to now. The torn tendon was her first serious injury.
