| Her last ski race ended badly. The 32-year-old Italian skier had announced the retirement of her career at the end of the 2021/22 season after 14 years and 225 World Cup races. "With a bang", as she wrote on Instagram, she finished the last downhill of the combination at the Italian Championships in Bardonecchia. She made a mistake at high speed and crashed. Scrapes to her face and a fracture to her left fibula were the result. Last year she had still won the combination of downhill and slalom at the Italian Championships. The next day she went to the finish area of the giant slalom race in a cast and on crutches "to hug friends who have stood by me during my career." |
