| Kiaraliz Medina was crowned Miss Puerto Rico 2012 and later took part of the Miss America 2013 pageant in Las Vegas (USA). During the opening number of the first night of preliminaries, she fell down the stairs. It happened in the talent challenge when she performed a flamenco dance. The 20-year-old woman twisted her ankle and fainted backstage because of the pain. She was rushed to hospital, got bandages around her ankle and was then on crutches. Returning to the competition next day and modeling her swimsuit with the 'new accessory', she told the audience "I'm here to make the crutches look good". Finally the blonde Miss New York, Mallory Hagan, won the 86th edition of the contest. |
