The Russian actress tore several ligaments in her left ankle in July 2021. At home in Saint Petersburg, she twisted her ankle on the stairs while checking her mobile phone to see if her ordered taxi was waiting. "And I always tell my 7-year-old daughter Nastya that you don't look at your mobile phone when you're walking - and certainly not on the stairs," she says.
The 33-year-old woman twisted her ankle and fell on it with all her weight. The ex-wife of Igor Kharlamov was in a lot of pain. "I could not get up immediately. I then took a few steps with the foot. But I realised very quickly that it was not possible," Kristina said.

The doctor found four torn ligaments on her left ankle. They didn't need surgery, but the lower leg was put in plaster for three weeks to let the ligaments heal themselves. She is dependent on crutches for a longer period of time. But she is used to restrictions: in October 2020, she had survived a COVID-19 infection after two weeks of isolation.

On her Instagram pages she writes that every few years she tears ligaments in one leg and has to use crutches. In October 2015, she injured her right knee during rehearsals for a TV show featuring dancing and gymnastics. At first she continued rehearsals in a wheelchair. Then the pain increased and an MRI in the hospital showed an injured meniscus, a torn anterior cruciate ligament and other injured ligaments in her knee. "In a complex surgical procedure, my right knee literally had to be reassembled," she writes. This caused her to be absent from the theatre for over half a year.
In April 2011, she suffered an ankle ligament injury while playing sports. "At first I hardly felt the pain. I decided it must be a simple sprain or bruise," she says. "But the next day my leg was completely blue and swollen. I had to go to the emergency room. A complete tear of the ankle ligaments was diagnosed and they put me in a cast in which I had to spend three weeks."

At the time, she had become well known for the TV hospital series "Interns" in Russia and some former Soviet republics. Maxim magazine voted her the "Sexiest Russian woman 2010". Back then, she did not show her casted leg as obviously as in 2021. The actress went to the "Nika" film award ceremony on crutches. She wore a long black skirt that completely covered her legs.
